Giovanni Cerutti’s death in 1972, two years after the inauguration of the new Vercelli plant, and that of Luigi Cerutti in 1973, left the company’s development and growth under the direction of Tere Cerutti, Luigi’s wife, who became Officine Meccaniche Giovanni Cerutti's Chairman of the Board.
In 1981, Giancarlo Cerutti was appointed President and CEO of the Cerutti Group. Leader in the rotogravure printing sector and serving two different markets with this technology - magazines and packaging - at the end of 1982 Cerutti decided to increase its production. In 1985, after only 24 months from the start of the project, the birth of the first flexographic press for newspaper printing entered into production at “La Repubblica”.
The next few years saw a large increase in the choice of print technology due to the acquisition of Flexotecnica (Tavazzano, Lodi) - operating in the flexo C.I. packaging sector; Iberica (Spain) - specializing in sheet-fed platen die cutters; Zerand and Bernal (USA) - respectively specializing in the production of web-fed platen die cutters and web-fed rotary cutters and dies. These last two acquisitions have strengthened Cerutti’s presence in the world of board.
In November 2003, the new Cerutti Research Centre opened in Vercelli, to continue the development of further and more advanced technological solutions.
